DESCRIPTION:Join us for an open canoe trekking as we paddle through Lorraine and the scenic Ardennes in the north of France. The Meuse River is considered one of the oldest rivers in the world because it flows through the Ardennes massif which was formed during the Paleozoic era. This makes her at least 250 million years old. \nStarting our journey on a gentle section of the river we’ll practice different strokes and techniques as we go. As we travel downstream through several picturesque little villages and France’s famous World War I battle fields the character of the river changes all along. From dense forests to endless rolling hills. The river is home to a diverse range of wildlife and there’s always the chance of spotting beavers. SUMMARY:Day trip on the Meuse River
DESCRIPTION:Canoeing on the Meuse is a real treat. The cross-border Meuse Valley River Park forms for 40 km the border between Belgium and The Netherlands and is one of the biggest and most successful projects on ecological river recovery in Europe. It’s also the only part of the Meuse in the Low Countries that’s not extensively diked and stowed. The Rivier winds through a varied landscape with a jumble of old river arms\, bank embankments\, trenches and gravel banks. \nThe Meuse has a – by Dutch and Flemish standards – great fall\, high flow speed and enormous dynamics. That’s why canoeing on the Meuse River can be quite exciting at times especially in the middle part where a succession of rapids forces any paddler to keep her or his guard. Other parts of the river have a more peaceful and tranquil quality giving you the time to enjoy the surroundings and the bird life and maybe spot a beaver.

The river offers a real immersion in nature while the current keeps a lively character. In spring\, ice jams and fallen trees may block part of the river\, making the descent more adventurous. Canoeing on the Ourthe offers all canoeists exhilarating sensations without great risk. Difficulty WW I / I +. \nThe Ourthe consists of a set of relatively easy and varied sections. Between Hotton and Durbuy\, the river winds widely and calmly through the vast plain of the Famenne. While downstream from Durbuy\, the water makes its way between the hills of the Condroz. Canoeing on the Ourthe is a joy for beginning and advanced paddlers. Some technical background is required however since we’re paddling the river in spring with potentially high water levels and sometimes a powerful current.

SUMMARY:Day trip on the Rur River
DESCRIPTION:Canoeing on the Rur is a unique experience for the Netherlands\, because it is one of the last major Dutch rivers to meander freely. There are many places with gravel banks\, but the river also has real steep banks where Kingfisher and Sand Martin nest. The river itself is rich in stream-loving aquatic plants\, which\, in a canoe\, can be a hassle sometimes. \nThe day trip on the Rur is approximately 22 km long. The meandering course is largely quiet with\, nevertheless\, a noticeable current. Along the Roer there are mainly agricultural lands\, meadows\, poplar stands and willow thickets.

Pre-laminated shafts will be supplied for you to glue up the blades and grips to. A discussion of the various types of paddles and how to size a paddle to an individual will take place before we glue up your individual paddle. The rest of the day will be spent paring the wood down with hand tools to make a fine canoe paddle. It should be noted that you may not have time to finish your paddle. DESCRIPTION:Canoeing on the Dommel is always a treat. The winding river meanders between Neerpelt and Valkenswaard through forests and meadows. You pass through two nature reserves\, Hageven and Malpie and you have to be very unlucky not to spot Kingfishers. Especially during the first part of the trip\, they find a home in the elevated river banks. Further on you will come across the infrastructure work of beavers who have been living here for several years now. \nThe Dommel is an ideal river to practice your paddling skills. The constant meandering and the light current keep you alert. While paddling\, the guide will pay attention to the ins and outs of preparing and making canoe trips. DESCRIPTION:The Dender used to be one of the most polluted rivers of Belgium but that has been reversed in recent years and now the water quality is back up to standard. It has improved favorably and it has turn back into a rich fishing water. On summer days you can see dozens of carp warming up just beyond the water surface. Nature\, towns\, villages and industry alternate. Mostly it’s very quiet on the water\, but the towpath along the banks is eagerly used by cyclists and cycling tourists. Canoeing on the Dender is accessible to all paddlers. \nWhile exploring the river by canoe\, one of our skilled guides will introduce you to the art of canoe tripping. SUMMARY:Kringelfieber
DESCRIPTION:Kringelfieber is the name of the annual meeting for all paddlers interested in American Freestyle and/or Canadian Style Paddling open canoes. It was initiated in 2006 by Silke Reitner and meanwhile has become the largest annual Freestyle canoe meeting of Europe. Initially just a small meeting of likeminded Style paddlers\, the festival has now grown to a mature event attracting not only the adept but also many newcomers to Style Paddling. They search information about those uncommon paddling disciplines and maybe want to try their first strokes on the water. \nThe aim of Kringelfieber is to meet in a pleasant and open atmosphere\, paddle together and learn from each other\, and of course – have fun! There are no fees because the organisers only provide the boundary conditions of the meeting by setting the time and date and by reserving an area on the campground. Other than that\, everybody is self supporting\, free and self responsible. Kringelfieber is an event by paddlers and for paddlers\, and it lives from the contribution of the participants. \nAt Kringelfieber several certified Freestyle instructors are present\, offering low rate courses and workshops in Canadian Style\, solo and tandem Freestyle. From mere beginners in Style Paddling all the way to those who want to work on their routine to music – there is something on offer for all levels. Private lessons are available on request. On the final evening there is a show by participants and instructors displaying the art of paddling with and without music\, and the Kringelfieber challenge trophy is passed on to its new owner. \nFreeranger Canoe will be present at Kringelfieber with our wooden canoes and paddles

DESCRIPTION:The Open Canoe Festival is the biggest rendezvous dedicated to canoe lovers from Europe’s four corners. 600 participants each year and 12 countries. \nDuring 3 days\, the charming village of Mirabel-et-Blacons (located between Lyon and Avignon\, 30 Km from Valence and the Rhône Valley) becomes the European Canoe capital. The Festival is organized in a charming 4 star campsite located on the bank of the Drôme river.
